Frequently asked questions

Is this resume builder really free?

Yes. Enter your information, preview your resume, and download PDF and Word files for free, with no sign-up and no subscription. You can also copy it into Google Docs. There’s no watermark, and you don’t pay anything to download.

Is my resume ATS-friendly?

Yes. Your PDF has real, selectable text and a clear, simple layout that applicant tracking systems can read. We can’t guarantee how any specific system will process your resume.

What is a resume, and is it the same as a CV?

A resume summarizes your work experience, education, and skills and includes your contact information. In the US, a CV usually means a longer academic document, while in many other countries CV is the common word for a resume. You can use this tool as a CV maker too.

What should I put on my resume?

The tool asks for Contact information, Work experience, Education, Skills & languages, then Summary, which appears at the top of your resume, under your name. At the end, you can add Additional information. Use a reverse-chronological resume format: list your most recent jobs and education first.

How long should my resume be?

Keep it to one page in most cases. Two pages are fine if you have a lot of relevant experience. The live preview shows your pages on US Letter paper, so you always see your page count.

I have no experience. How do I make a resume for my first job?

Start with Contact information. If you’ve had a job or internship, add it under Work experience. In Education, list your high school or college, diploma or degree, and graduation date (or expected date). Put relevant projects, volunteering, activities, and certifications under Additional information. In Skills & languages, list relevant software and tools, and add your proficiency in each language.

Do I need an account to save and update my resume?

No. Your resume is saved automatically in this browser with no sign-up. Return here to edit it. To switch devices, save a backup file, transfer it to the other device, and load it there.

What skills should I put on my resume?

In Skills & languages, list relevant software, tools, and areas of expertise, separated by commas. For each language, add your proficiency level, such as “fluent” or “conversational.” Put certifications under Additional information with their own heading.

Should I put a photo on my resume?

In the US, leave the photo off in most cases. This builder does not ask for a photo, and your resume comes out without one. If an employer abroad expects a photo, turn on the “Photo” switch above the preview to add one.

Can I make a resume on my phone?

Yes. Use your phone’s browser - no app needed. Tap “Preview” to see your resume. At the end, tap “Send / Save” to share your PDF. If your browser supports sharing, the share menu opens; otherwise, the PDF downloads.
